24 January

It’s the little things that weigh us down. We have all heard the adage that it was the hair that broke the camel’s back, it was the last straw and so on. It is the last tiny thing that makes us go “AAGH!”

So today is the day of little things. Put your hand in your coat pockets, empty your handbag, empty your purse, clear out the glove compartment of your car. I guarantee you will find at least some of the following:

  •  Unwanted receipts
  • Biscuit and/or sweet wrappers
  • Used tissues
  • Pen lids without the pen
  • Pens that don’t work
  • Old shopping lists
  • Cds that you don’t listen to
  • “Useful” all purpose tools that you have never used
  • Hair elastics
  • Old air freshners
  • Torches without batteries
  • Dog biscuits
  • Elastic bands
  • Hand drawn maps and directions you no longer need
  • Old parking tickets
  • Broken toys
  • Loose change that you can never find when you actually need it
  • Various bits of elderly make up that is well past its use by date, quite possibly without lids and dried out
  • Empty drink bottles
  • Empty crisp/sandwich packets
  • Empty travel mugs
  • Spoons (or perhaps that is only my car?)
  • Unidentifiable sticky stuff that may once have been a cough sweet
  • Old train and bus tickets

Every one of those is potentially the final straw, the little thing that tips you over the edge. Why wait to find out which one it is? Clear out the glove compartment, upend your handbag and purse and be brave and excavate those coat pockets. You will not believe how much better you feel once all the junk has gone. Give it a go, you can have a yell at me if I am wrong 🙂
